For me painting is a way to explore that, which is alive,
surrounding me. The energy of living beings, trees, and
bodies inspire my vibrant paintings. These living images
evolve into a composition where color and line are the
primary subjects, and a body may become a spirited,
colorful landscape. The luminous quality of the oil
medium lends itself to my work. The rich, bright colors
of oil paint radiate like we do- with life force energy,
with strong moods. My own experiences as a living body
and soul, surrounded by nature or a city, or immersed in
a different culture, fuel my art as well. Thus the human
body is often a recurring theme in my paintings. My
surroundings have recently changed, and with them the
mood of my work. I am now living in the NEK- surrounded
by fresh, crisp air, rolling hills, and strong, diverse
seasons. I am exploring this recent stage of planting
roots and my new project aims at capturing the simplicity
that I am living, and contrasting the security with the
vulnerability that come with feeling at home in a new
land. I look forward to sharing my new work in the near
future, and I hope my images will always reveal an
inherent vibrancy in the living, the energy of color, and
beauty and spirit of simplicity.
